How We Treat Trauma

Our Virtual IOP was created to  help you process trauma and reduce related symptoms through a combination of group therapy sessions, one-on-one counseling, and educational workshops. We specialize in a variety of evidence-based modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) techniques to help your body and mind move away from hypervigilance and find peace. This program is typically eight weeks or longer, depending on the recommendation of our providers and your unique goals.

We always provide personalized support and practical tools tailored to your specific needs through our trauma telehealth services. With our guidance, you will learn to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to your trauma, identify triggers, and build healthy habits, empowering you on your journey toward healing.

How are Trauma Disorders Diagnosed?

Trauma can significantly impact your life whether or not you meet the diagnostic criteria for a related mental health condition, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD ) or acute stress disorder (ASD). However, if you believe you may be struggling with one of these disorders, we’ll set up a comprehensive evaluation with one of our experienced clinicians. During this session, we’ll listen to your story and get a clear picture of your medical history, current symptoms, and the challenges you’re dealing with.

We believe in working together on your treatment, meaning you’ll play a key role in the diagnosis and crafting of your treatment plan. Your thoughts and feedback are always welcome as we collaborate to create a personalized path to recovery.

  • Adjustment Disorders

Trauma is typically caused by experiencing or witnessing distressing events such as violence, accidents, natural disasters, or abuse. The severity of the trauma can vary, and you may react differently based on your personal history, resilience, and support systems. Even witnessing a traumatic event can cause you significant emotional distress.

Treatment options for your trauma may include psychotherapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and holistic modalities, such as mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) techniques. These therapies can help you process and integrate traumatic memories in a safe and controlled manner. Medications may also be used to manage your symptoms, and support groups can provide you with a space to share experiences and gain support from others.

Therapy, especially CBT, is highly effective in treating trauma. Working with an experienced provider can help you process and reframe traumatic memories, reducing the emotional distress associated with them. Therapy can provide you with coping strategies and tools to manage your symptoms, leading to significant improvements in your daily functioning and overall well-being.

Virtual IOP offers you numerous benefits for treating your trauma, including flexibility and accessibility, allowing you to receive treatment from the comfort of your home. Our program includes virtual group therapy, individual counseling, and educational workshops, providing you with comprehensive care and a supportive community. Our VIOP structure supports your regular engagement with treatment, fostering a consistent and effective therapeutic process.

Yes, transitioning from the VIOP to in-person therapy sessions is possible if you need it. This flexibility ensures that you can continue receiving care that best suits your changing needs. The transition process is designed to be seamless, maintaining continuity of care and support as you move from virtual to in-person sessions, ensuring that your treatment remains effective and tailored to your requirements.

Yes, we offer a virtual IOP for co-occurring disorders that is highly effective in treating PTSD and substance use. Many individuals use drugs or alcohol to cope with trauma-related symptoms such as anxiety, flashbacks, emotional distress, or difficulty sleeping, which is why treating only one condition often leaves underlying challenges unresolved. Our programs combine evidence-based therapies, trauma-informed care, individual counseling, group support, and relapse prevention strategies to help clients build healthier coping skills while working toward long-term emotional wellness and recovery.
