About Susana

Susana is the Director of Digital Marketing at Cornerstone and is a passionate writer, recovery advocate, and mom of five with nearly a decade of sobriety. Her experience in recovery has led her to work in the addiction and mental health treatment field. With a degree in Theology from Grand Canyon University, she brings faith, compassion, and understanding to her work, making complex topics easier to grasp.

In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband, kids and dog (Doberman named Ezzy), exploring new, family-friendly places, taking road trips, making memories with her family collecting and listening to vinyl (she loves Indie & Folk music – anything that’s a little different). She is also active in her church and incorporates spirituality and mindfulness into her daily life, which helps her stay grounded and connected to her recovery journey.

Susana’s Experience as an Addiction Writer

Susana stepped into working in the recovery field in 2017 as a support staff at a large treatment center in Arizona. Upon learning of an opening in the marketing department, she jumped at the opportunity to begin mastering the craft of content writing. Since she was a child, she has been blessed with the gift of curiosity of writing and is quick to learn with computers.

With years of experience in both recovery, digital marketing, and writing, Susana has used the combination of skills to give back in a way that helps reach potential clients, whether they need information or a place to land at a treatment center.  When Susana contributes her writing, she works to make sure that important information about treatment reaches the people searching for help, breaking down complicated topics in a way that’s easy to understand.

Susana’s background in religious studies also gives her a faith-driven unique perspective. She approaches each piece with empathy, hope, and a deep understanding of what it’s like to struggle and rebuild. Her goal is to not only share information but to offer encouragement and remind people that no matter how hard things feel, recovery is always possible.

Susana’s Recovery Journey

Susana’s journey to recovery was not an easy one, but it was one that transformed her life in ways she never imagined. Caught in the grips of addiction, she struggled to find a way out until she turned to God for strength. Through faith, she found the courage to break free from the cycle of addiction and rebuild her life. Leaning on her spirituality, she not only got sober but also discovered a deeper sense of purpose. Her faith gave her the foundation she needed to stay committed to recovery, helping her navigate the challenges that came with healing and personal growth.

As she embraced sobriety, Susana’s life began to change in incredible ways. She got married and expanded her family, becoming a mother to five wonderful children. Determined to create a better future for herself and her family, she pursued higher education, earning her bachelors degree. Her education strengthened her ability to support and uplift others, reinforcing the values of compassion, resilience, and service that guide her today.
